Vernon Hills poms team takes 2 firsts at Wauconda Competition

The Vernon Hills High School varsity poms squad poses after winning two titles at the Wauconda Competition.

Vernon Hills varsity poms squad claimed a pair of first-place showings at the Wauconda Competition on Jan. 15. The Cougars came out on top in the 2A Open Pom category and 2A Open Dance category.
Additionally, the team was named the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division Champions for having the highest routine score across all Prairie Division schools’ varsity level routines. VH already qualified for State at the Dec. 17 Schaumburg Competition.
The roster includes seniors Elizabeth Chapman (captain), Marli Levin (captain), Michelle Nussbaum (captain), Liz Slovik, Kristen Kamman and Monique Beird; juniors Brianna Perl and Delaney Leber; sophomores Beth Winegardner, Jadyn Amidei, Jessica Johnson, Kimberly Amari, Kristine Chapman and Dana Dubinski; and freshmen Keely Flis and Maddy Silbar.
The JV poms team took two seconds at the event: Open Pom category and Open Dance category. VH’s JV also was named the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division Champions.
