Police blotter for Jan. 21

The following incidents were listed in the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.

BATTERY

John V. Austwick, 49, of 909 Hillside Drive, Mundelein, was charged Tuesday, Jan. 8, with battery after allegedly pushing a woman while visiting Beer Market, 1270 S. Milwaukee Ave. He faces a Feb. 14 court date.

Criminal Damage to Property

Li Su, 22, of 22 Lindon Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged Friday, Jan. 11, with three counts of criminal damage to property after allegedly damaging items on his neighbors property on three occasions. He faces a Feb. 13 court date.

THEFT

David Robert McGhie, 45, of 14411 Kishwaukee Valley Road, Woodstock, was charged Friday, Jan. 11, with retail theft after allegedly leaving Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center, without paying for $198.93 worth of tools. He allegedly returned the tools for store credit.

Alexander L. Spencer, 21, of 1974 Sheila Street #2, Woodstock, was charged Friday, Jan. 11, with retail theft after allegedly leaving Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center, without paying for $340.16 worth of tools.

Jason F. Edwards, 35, of 521 N. Wille Street, Mount Prospect, was charged Thursday, Jan. 10, with retail theft after allegedly leaving JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center, without paying for $215 worth of clothing.

Victor S. Wright, 19, of 430 Pine Lake Circle, Vernon Hills, was charged Wednesday, Jan. 9, with retail theft allegedly leaving Kohls, 235 N. Milwaukee Ave., without paying for $144.50 worth of clothing. He faces a Jan. 24 court date.

Nicholas B. Waters, 19, of 2119 W. 20th Street, North Chicago, was charged Monday, Jan. 7, with retail theft after allegedly leaving JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center, without paying for $80 worth of shoes. He was expected in court on Jan. 21.

DUI

A 16-year-old male was charged Friday, Jan. 11, with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Michael K. Jacobson, 69, of 4884 Tall Pines Road, Florence, Wis., was charged Thursday, Jan. 10, with driving under the influence and improper lane use after police observed his vehicle swerving between a turn and straight lane. He faces a Feb. 6 court date.

John D. Winegardner, 44, of 11 University Circle, Hawthorn Woods, was charged Thursday, Jan. 10, with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance and driving left of center. He faces a Feb. 6 court date.
