Elderly Vernon Hills man admits to sex crime

VERNON HILLS ­— An elderly man from Vernon Hills confessed to several sex crimes against a female child in his family.

Jacob Hagemann, 85, 310 Greenbier Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged Friday, Oct. 26, with predatory sexual assault of a child, sexual assault and no valid FOID card.

Police spokesman Sharon Joseph said the acts were committed seven to 10 years ago but were just recently brought to the police.

Though Hagemann confessed during his initial interview, Joseph said detectives continue to question other family members to determine if other children were victimized.

Joseph said a gun was not involved in the arrest, but officers learned of the unregistered weapon during their investigation.

Hagemann was remanded on a $750,000 bond with no court date set.
