Medline appoints Gruber as CFO

Medline Industries, Inc. in Mundelein announced the appointment of John Gruber as the company’s new chief financial officer.

Gruber joined Medline in 2010 as the company’s chief accounting officer. With this new appointment, Gruber now has responsibility for the company’s global finance, internal audit and accounting functions.

Gruber has an MBA in finance and strategy from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.

Mundelein pageants are set

The Mundelein Community Days Commission has announced that the 2012 Miss, Junior Miss, and Little Miss Mundelein Pageants will once again be held at Mundelein High School. The dates for the 2012 pageants are: June 25-Miss Mundelein (ages 16-21); June 26-Junior Miss Mundelein (ages 11-13); June 27-Little Miss Mundelein (ages 6-8).

The Miss Mundelein Pageants is open to all young ladies within the listed age ranges living in Mundelein or with a 60060 zip code.

Cash prizes of $500, or a $1,000 college scholarship for Miss Mundelein, $350 for Junior Miss Mundelein, and $250 for Little Miss Mundelein will be awarded. Applications are available at www.mundelein.org or at the Village Hall. Applications are due by June 13.

Martin joins internal medicine group

Lake Forest Internal Medicine welcomed Laura Martin to its practice.

Martin holds an undergraduate degree from Ohio State University in biology and a master’s degree (Family Nurse Practitioner) from Ohio State’s College of Nursing. Her addition to the practice provides enhanced primary care treatment options for patients.

She joins Dr. Elliot Miller and Dr. Mark Riederman at 1800 Hollister Dr. Suite 211, in Libertyville, home to both Lake Forest Internal Medicine and The Center for Medical Weight Loss.

Tyler Schwartz brings home silver medal

Libertyville resident Tyler Schwartz of the Trinity Irish Dancers, won a silver medal at the 2012 World Irish Dancing Championships held March 31-April 8 in Belfast, Ireland. Many other Chicagoans did an outstanding job representing the United States, including Perter Dziak from Villa Park winning the gold medal for the second year in a row.

ETA/Cuisenaire announces winners

Six ETA/Cuisenaire employees have been named winners of the 2011 “President’s Awards for Core Values,” as announced by Jude Rake, President/CEO of the Vernon Hills-based company, which is the nation’s leading provider of hands-on learning products for math, science and literacy education.

The six winners are Mary Watanabe, senior associate of special projects; Elena Cruz, order management specialist; Denise Ragona, accounts receivable manager; Georgine Cooper, product development manager; Kathy Carter, outside sales representative; and Chad Martin, regional vice president of sales.

Shredding event is coming up

Fifth Third Bank is hosting a “Community Shred Event” for customers who need to destroy their confidential financial documents. Customers can stop by a participating Fifth Third Branch to pick up a complimentary “Shred Coupon.” Limit 10 boxes with a valid coupon.

This event is free and open to the public from noon-3 p.m. on April 21 at the Vernon Hills location only, 850 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Suite 100.

Coupons can be picked up at the other two locations in Mundelein, 3 Nelson C. White Pkwy, and Lincolnshire, 225 W. Aptakisic Rd.
