Church is set to host meetings for prison families
First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville is hosting a new small group meeting, Imprisoned Families Limited. These twice-a-month meetings are open to family members and close friends of those arrested, indicted or imprisoned.
The first meeting is on Jan. 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 206 at First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville, 219 West Maple (corner of Maple and Douglas). Parking is available in the Maple Street lot, enter through the northeast entrance (219) on Maple, go to the top floor.

Hawthorn to hold parent meeting
Hawthorn School District 73 parents of children who will turn 5 by Sept. 1, 2012 are invited to attend the Kindergarten Parent Information Meeting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Hawthorn Middle School South, 600 North Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills. Parents of students currently enrolled in private kindergarten who will attend Hawthorn first grade next year are also encouraged to attend and follow the kindergarten registration schedule.
During the Jan. 26 meeting, parents will find out about the Hawthorn curriculum, the registration process, school tours, lottery system and deadlines. Information will also be provided about the availability of limited full-day tuition-based kindergarten, which as currently conceived will be housed at Elementary North and Elementary South.
Registration will open on Feb. 6 at Hawthorn District Office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills. The registration/lottery deadline is Feb, 17. Registration information is posted at www.hawthorn73.org/registration.
District catalogs are in the mail
The District 128 Community Education Winter/Spring/Summer catalogs are in the mail.
The semester begins on Jan. 23 so interested individuals can visit the District 128 Community Education website at www.ComEd128.org to check out the full selection of classes.
The district has developed quite a few new classes for the term. Some of the new course offerings include: Beading, Chocolate 101, Using Google Docs, Rejuvenating Your Retirement, Become Your Own Health Advocate, Spanish for First Responders, A Guy’s Guide to the Professional Wardrobe, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Bike Maintenance, Handwriting Analysis, Wine Making and Appreciation, and many new cooking classes.
The district will also offer a wide selection of Summer Youth Classes for the summer of 2012. Classes/mini camps will include offerings in the areas of science, engineering, cooking, sewing, arts, fishing, theater, computers, self-defense, guitar and other activities.
Mundelein to hold hearing on zoning map
A public hearing before the Mundelein Village Board will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Mundelein Fire Station, 1000 North Midlothian Road, Mundelein, to accept and approve the village’s official zoning map.
Interested persons can submit oral or written testimony or other evidence regarding the zoning map. The village will accept comments regarding the zoning map for 30 days after the passage of the ordinance.
The zoning map is available for public review at the Village Clerk’s Office, 440 East Hawley St., Mundelein during regular business hours or on the village’s website at www.mundelein.org.
Sente poised to host legislative forum
In preparation for the 2012 legislative session, State Rep. Carol Sente, D-59th, of Vernon Hills, will host a Budget and Legislative Forum to hear directly from residents about ideas to improve Illinois. Sente invites all residents of the 59th House District to attend the event which will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Laschen Community Center, Century Room, at 294 Evergreen Drive in Vernon Hills.
