VERNON HILLS — The Community High School District 128 school board voted unanimously at their Feb. 25 meeting to name Jon Guillaume the next principal of Vernon Hills High School.
Guillaume will become the school’s third principal on July 1, 2014. Current principal Ellen Cwick is retiring.
Previously, Guillaume served as the school’s associate principal in 2010, after seven years as assistant principal.
“I could not be more proud to be a part of Vernon Hills High School,” said Guillaume in a prepared statement. “I am both humbled and honored to be named its next principal.”
District 128 superintendent Prentiss Lea also expressed enthusiasm for Guillame’s appointment.
“As Jon’s outstanding leadership at Vernon Hills High School and in District 128 over the years has demonstrated, he is absolutely the right person to lead the school to the next level,” Lea said, also in a statement.
District officials said Guillaume’s salary information is not available because his principal contract has not been finalized.
Guillaume earned his bachelor of science degree from Taylor University, with majors in mathematics and secondary education. He is scheduled to receive his doctorate in educational leadership from Concordia University later this year.
